2012 East Wake Spelling Bee
Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 6 p.m.
Registration begins at 5:30 - East Wake H.S. Gym
How does the Bee work?
The moderator will call a word, read a definition and use the word in a sentence. Your four-person team
decides on the spelling and writes it on a sheet of paper. A judge determines if the word is spelled correctly.
As long as your team spells correctly, you’re in the Bee. If you miss a word, you can buy it and still stay in
the contest.
Will you "bee” embarrassed if you can’t spell?
Of course not! Spelling is done as team, not as individuals, so there’s no chance of embarrassment. Plus, up
until the elimination round, if your team cannot spell a word, you can "buy” it. Words can be purchased for
$25 each to keep you in the game. You can pre-pay for words when you register to provide a little extra security!
Words may also be purchased during the Bee or invoiced for payment after the Bee. All word purchases
are non-refundable donations.
